Introducing Wi-Fi Metrics in Orb Cloud
Available in Live Metrics and Analytics
One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we've heard from customers is simple: we need better visibility into Wi-Fi.
When something goes wrong on a network, Wi-Fi is often the hardest layer to diagnose. Is it signal strength? Interference? Congestion? Roaming issues? Without the right data, teams are left guessing.
Today we're introducing Wi-Fi Metrics in Orb Cloud: deeper visibility into wireless performance across analytics and live monitoring.
More Detailed Wi-Fi Analytics
In Orb Cloud Analytics, you can now view detailed wireless connection metrics:
- RSSI. Received signal power at the device.
- SNR. Signal quality relative to background noise.
- Channel Number. The RF channel in use.
- BSSID. The exact access point the device is connected to.
- PHY Mode. The wireless standard in use (802.11n, ac, ax).
- PHY Rate. Raw link speed between device and access point.
This gives you historical visibility into connection quality, not just whether a device was online, but how well it was connected.
When users report slow Wi-Fi, you can validate: was the signal weak? Was noise high? Was the device stuck on a legacy PHY mode? Was the user even on the right network?
Real-Time Wi-Fi Monitoring
Live Metrics in Orb Cloud now includes real-time wireless performance data: average RSSI, noise, SNR, and TX rate.
During live troubleshooting, you can watch signal strength fluctuate in real time, see roaming events as they happen, detect environmental interference, and confirm throughput during active transfers.
Deeper Diagnostics
Wi-Fi issues are often subtle. A connection may not drop, but performance degrades due to noise, poor SNR, channel overlap, or suboptimal PHY negotiation.
With Wi-Fi Metrics you can correlate performance complaints with signal conditions, identify access point placement or coverage issues, detect interference patterns, and validate optimization changes.
